Our Mission Statement

We proclaim God’s love and the faith of Christ crucified and resurrected.  We welcome all who join us as we  serve God and His creation with love and respect.

A caring community worshipping in a heritage church       St. Paul’s is one of the oldest Anglican churches in the Province of British Columbia, Canada.  There have been three buildings on this site.  The foundation of the first church building was laid in 1861, on land given by the Hudson Bay Co.  At the beginning of the century, a larger building was needed.  In 1906, the first building was torn down and the cornerstone of the second building was laid.  In July 1930, a fire destroyed a large portion of the business section of Nanaimo.  Six blocks were totally destroyed, including St. Paul’s.  In August 1931, the foundation stone for the third church was laid.  St. Paul’s continues to serve Nanaimo as a downtown church and hopes to do so for many years to come.

Welcome to St. Paul’s from Archdeacon Evans Our Mission Statement speaks of a welcoming and caring community. On behalf of the parish I welcome you to your “cyber” visit to St. Paul’s. We hope you find the information helpful and informative.  Although St. Paul’s is one of the oldest parishes in the City of Nanaimo (150 years in 2011) it is also the newest parish in Nanaimo. On May 1, 2009 the parishes of St. James and St. Paul amalgamated into one new and continuing parish in the name of St. Paul Nanaimo.

We look forward to this new and exciting time in the life of the gospel.  You will note we presently have a wide variety of programs in the parish and for which the parish lends support. At the same time the Gospel calls us daily into new and exciting programs and we look forward to those challenges in the future.  If you wish to contact myself or others at their electronic mail address we would welcome an opportunity to respond to you.

The Venerable Brian Evans
